On Friday, June 2nd, SOM's Carrie Byles and David Shook will speak at AIA SF NEXT, a conference organized by the San Francisco chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The event centers on the future of the built environment, with sessions focused on design, business, and technology. Discussions and presentations will showcase current work and thought leadership in the architecture, engineering, and construction industries.
Byles, a Partner based in SOM's San Francisco office, will present learnings and recommendations for running a successful design practice in a session titled "How to Grow Your Firm Small, Medium, and Large." Shook, an Associate Director and also based in San Francisco, will speak in a session titled "Making the Future: Current Research at the CCA Digital Craft Lab." Shook will discuss the work of an advanced studio at California College of the Arts that explored integrative design methods for a robotically fabricated pavilion.
