SOM Presents Moon Village at International Astronautical Conference

On Monday, October 21st, Associate Director Georgi Petrov and senior architectural designer Daniel Inocente will join professor Jeffrey Hoffman of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics to present a paper on the Moon Village at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Washington, D.C. The paper, titled “Master Planning and Space Architecture for a Moon Village,” is co-written by SOM, the European Space Agency (ESA), and MIT, and outlines the concept for the first permanent human settlement on the Moon.

Each year, the IAC draws participants and guests from the global aerospace community for events, presentations, and exhibitions related to the development and exploration of outer space. This year’s IAC will take place from Monday, October 21st to Friday, October 25th. Throughout the week, SOM will display the project and a model at the event’s exhibition hall.
