SOM Leads Tour for San Francisco Architecture Festival

On Tuesday, September 4th, SOM will lead a walking tour as part of the Architecture + the City Festival in San Francisco. Titled “Urban Design for the Future of the Public Realm,” the program will bring together a group of experts across multiple sectors to share perspectives on designing for the future of the public realm. Topics of discussion will include transportation, health, resilience, and community development.

The program will also examine mixed-use projects that feature market rate and affordable housing units, public space, and amenities. During the tour, participants will visit One Front Street, the current location of SOM’s San Francisco office; 350 Mission Street; and the Transbay Redevelopment Project Master Plan, Block 9.

Ellen Lou, SOM Director of Urban Design and Planning; Elizabeth Macdonald, Chair of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning, and Professor of City and Regional Planning and Urban Design at UC Berkeley; and José Campos, Manager of Planning and Urban Design with San Francisco’s Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure, will present.
