On Friday, May 13th, SOM received six awards at the inaugural China Tall Building Awards. Organized by the China International Exchange Committee for Tall Buildings (CITAB) and the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), the awards were presented at a ceremony in Shanghai.
Five SOM projects received awards: Jiangxi Nanchang Greenland Central Plaza, Parcel A received an Honorable Distinction in the 2016 China Innovation Award category; Jiangxi Nanchang Greenland Zifeng Tower and Zhengzhou Greenland Plaza each received Honorable Distinctions in the 2016 Best Tall Building China category; Beijing Greenland Center received an Honorable Distinction in the 2016 China Construction Award category; and Jin Mao Tower, completed in 1999, won the 2016 China Tall Building Legacy Award.
During the ceremony, SOM Associate Director Yue Zhu gave a presentation on Jiangxi Nanchang Greenland Central Plaza, Parcel A, in which he gave a project overview and spoke about design features of its two-way cable wall and cold-bent glass facade. Several leaders and team members from SOM attended to accept the awards, including Managing Partner Xuan Fu and Directors Silas Chiow and Eric Tomich.
