On Thursday, July 27th, SOM Associate Director Jon Cicconi will participate in a webinar on innovative design practices and strategies in new K–12 environments. Sponsored by Architectural Record as part of its "Academies of Digital Learning" program, the webinar will include presentations on three high-profile schools and a moderated discussion.
Cicconi will discuss The Kathleen Grimm School for Leadership and Sustainability at Sandy Ground, also known as P.S. 62. New York City's first net-zero-energy school, P.S. 62 was designed by SOM to harvest as much energy from renewable onsite resources as it uses on an annual basis. Cicconi will share insight on the role of the local community in the scope of the school design, design constraints and opportunities, and other topics.
Joining Cicconi as presenters during the webinar will be Kim Yao of Architecture Research Office, who will discuss Riverdale Country School in New York, and Jay Brotman and Julia McFadden of Svigals + Partners, who will discuss Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.
Registration for the webinar is required.
