Six SOM Projects Win 2020 CTBUH Awards

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has named six SOM projects as 2020 Award of Excellence winners. Tianjin CTF Finance Centre, Pudong Financial Plaza, Poly Skyline Plaza, 100 Mount Street500 Folsom, and Burj Khalifa earned awards in this year’s program.

Tianjin CTF Finance Centre, a new landmark in the Chinese city’s financial district, was awarded in three categories: Best Tall Building 400 Meters and Above, Construction, and Structural Engineering.

Pudong Financial Plaza, a pedestrian-focused mixed-use development in Shanghai, was recognized in the category of Urban Habitat – District/Master Planning Scale.

Poly Skyline Plaza, a mixed-use office and retail complex in Guangzhou, was named a winner in the Best Tall Building 300-399 Meters category.

100 Mount Street, a Sydney office tower with a cross-braced exoskeleton structure and a soaring glass curtain wall, received the Innovation Award.

500 Folsom, a 42-story mixed-use tower in San Francisco, won the Geotechnical Engineering award. 

Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world’s tallest building at 828 meters, received the 10 Year Award.

The CTBUH Annual Awards recognize projects that have made significant contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment, and that achieve sustainability at the highest level.
