On Tuesday, September 12th, a team of 14 SOM employees took part in Run the River, an annual fundraising event in central London. Together, SOM runners raised more than £500 for Teach First, an organization dedicated to improving the education of children from low income areas. Participants ran 10 kilometers along the banks of the River Thames, beginning at London’s City Hall and passing major landmarks including the Tower of London, Shakespeare’s Globe Theater, and St Paul’s Cathedral.
On the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, five SOM staff members participated in the New York Architects' Regatta Challenge on Thursday, September 14th. Hosted by Hudson River Community Sailing, the race took place on the Hudson River, with crews setting off from Pier 66. In 2016, the event raised more than $100,000 for various organizations, including Riverkeeper, a member-supported clean water advocacy organization, and Rocking the Boat, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering young students through experiential learning in boat building and urban waterway restoration.
