Several projects by SOM have been recognized by the 2014 Green GOOD DESIGN Awards. The awards program promotes public awareness of the world's most important examples of sustainable design.
From May 19 – 25, 2014, leaders from SOM's global City Design Practice will visit six cities in China to meet with colleagues and planning students. The goal of the tour is to present and exchange ideas for designing livable and sustainable cities in the 21st century.

Nanjing Xiaguan Riverfront Master Plan in Nanjing, China, has won a 2014 World Architecture News Award in the "Future Schemes" category. The 236-hectare project calls for the creation of five mixed-use neighborhoods with good transit connections and waterfront access.
