On May 2nd, 2018, SOM Technical Partner Keith Boswell will speak at the Value of Design Symposium in the Netherlands. The event will explore the collaboration between architects and engineers to design safe, artistic structures, focusing on a number of SOM projects.
Multiple representatives from SOM will participate in the 2017 Facades+ Los Angeles conference. The two-day event brings building professionals and researchers together to discuss current practices and innovations in facade design, fabrication, and construction.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) today unveiled a 3D-printed building designed by SOM in collaboration with ORNL researchers. The Additive Manufacturing Integrated Energy (AMIE) demonstration features a building that is powered by a 3D-printed vehicle developed by ORNL.
On Wednesday, September 23, 2015, Oak Ridge National Laboratory will unveil the Additive Manufacturing Integrated Energy demonstration project (AMIE). SOM led the design of AMIE—a 3D-printed high performance enclosure that produces and stores renewable power, and shares energy with a plug-in electric vehicle.
