On October 25th, 2017, the Partners of SOM and the Director of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden hosted the 50th anniversary of the firm's Washington, D.C. office. Clients, consultants, press, friends of the firm, and SOM leadership and staff gathered in the SOM-designed venue to celebrate this milestone.

Landscape Architecture Magazine features Capitol Crossing, one of Washington D.C.'s biggest city design efforts in decades. With a master plan by SOM, this urban design, infrastructure, and economic development project will rebuild three city blocks on a platform above Interstate 395.
The City of Raleigh, North Carolina has selected SOM to provide master planning leadership for a multi-building, mixed-use civic campus that will house core functions of City government downtown. The campus will be a transformational investment in one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities.
On October 11th, 2016, SOM Managing Director Kristopher Takács will participate in the conference "Rail-Volution: Building Livable Communities with Transit." Joining a panel discussion on high-speed rail, Takács will speak about lessons learned from All Aboard Florida as an economic driver for its region.
