SOM was represented by Technical Partner Keith Boswell during this year's AIA Conference on Architecture. The three-day gathering, which took place in Las Vegas, featured educational and networking events, seminars, workshops, and an architecture expo.
Dezeen features SOM’s Tenaya Towers at UC Santa Barbara, exploring how the project fits into the university's master plan, also designed by SOM. The towers are part of a larger student housing development, named the San Joaquin Villages, which includes residential buildings designed by various architects.
The University of California, Santa Barbara’s (UCSB) newest student housing project, the San Joaquin Villages, has been honored with a 2019 Housing Award by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The development, which provides living accommodations for more than 1,000 students on the UCSB campus, was one of 12 projects to receive an AIA Housing Award this year.
The U.S. Green Building Council's Los Angeles chapter has honored the Tenaya Towers at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The project received a Merit Award in the Energy and Atmosphere category of the 2018 Sustainable Innovation Awards.
In the AIA California Council's 2018 Design Awards, two SOM projects received recognition. Tenaya Towers at the University of California, Santa Barbara and Geffen Hall at the University of California, Los Angeles both received Merit Awards.
The San Francisco chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA SF) recognized SOM's work at the University of California, Santa Barbara in the 2018 Design Awards. The San Joaquin Apartments and Precinct Improvements received a Merit Award, which was presented on April 26th, 2018.
