SOM will participate in more than 20 events at this year's AIA Conference on Architecture in New York City. The conference, which features approximately 70 educational and networking events, includes seminars, workshops, and a two-day Architecture Expo at the Javits Center.
On April 18th, 2018, SOM Associate Director Jon Cicconi will speak at the Getting to Zero National Forum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Cicconi will discuss the Kathleen Grimm School for Leadership and Sustainability at Sandy Ground, New York's first net-zero-energy school.
On January 26th, 2018, SOM Associate Director Meredith Bostwick-Lorenzo Eiroa will speak at the annual meeting of the Association of American Colleges & Universities (AAC&U). She will join a panel titled "The Physical Environment as a Key Element in Achieving 21st Century Learning Goals."
SOM Director Carrie Moore served as a juror for Architectural Record's 2017 Record Products, an awards program that recognizes the best new products of the year. A panel of six independent jurors selected 57 winners from more than 250 entries.
The Urban Land Institute has selected the University Center at The New School as a winner of the 2017-18 Global Awards for Excellence. Additionally, The Kathleen Grimm School for Leadership and Sustainability at Sandy Ground was shortlisted for the annual awards program.

The New York Council of the Society of American Registered Architects (SARA NY) has recognized three SOM projects with 2017 Design Awards. The annual awards program honors outstanding architectural projects completed by SARA NY members in a variety of categories.
The Urban Land Institute New York honored The Kathleen Grimm School with its 2017 New York Excellence in Institutional Development Award. The public school is recognized as an example of responsible land use and sustainable development.
