On Thursday, March 15th, Thomas Kinzl will speak at AIA Chicago. Using Tianjin CTF Finance Centre as a case study, Kinzl will discuss the use of digital design tools, parametric design, and innovative, high-performing curtain wall systems in building facades.
On January 11th, 2018, SOM Associate Director and Technical Designer Thomas Kinzl will speak at the January meeting of the Chicago Committee on High Rise Buildings. Kinzl will explore how high performance curtain wall systems can improve building facades.
Tianjin CTF Finance Centre topped out in Tianjin, China this fall. The 530-meter-tall skyscraper will house office space, serviced apartments, and a five-star hotel. The tower will be a striking new landmark in the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area.
On October 2nd, Thomas Kinzl will speak at the 2017 Conference on Advanced Building Skins in Bern, Switzerland. During his presentation "Parametric Curtain Wall Design," Kinzl will explore recent innovations by SOM in curtain wall design, and the implementation and construction of complex geometries.
Curbed includes the SOM-designed Tianjin CTF Finance Centre in an article on the next generation of supertall buildings transforming city skylines across the globe. The 1,739-foot-tall tower in Tianjin, China is due to be completed in 2018.
Two SOM projects have been selected for the 2015 MIPIM Asia Awards, which recognizes innovation and excellence in real estate development. This year’s winners—including the Tianjin CTF Finance Centre and Ayala Triangle Gardens—will each be honored with a bronze, silver, or gold ranking on December 1, 2015, after a voting period open to the MIPIM Asia community.
