Fifteen years after its launch, the SOM Journal continues to tell a story of design at SOM. This edition is the tenth installment in a continuing series that highlights conceptual undercurrents being discussed and projects being developed at the firm.
At the 2015 Middle East Architect Awards, SOM won Concept Design of the Year for the Al Ahmadi Cultural Center, which creates a new arts destination in Kuwait. The winners of the eighth annual awards program were announced in Dubai on November 25, 2015.
The Middle East chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) honored four SOM projects in its 2015 Design Awards, marking the second consecutive year that SOM has won more awards in this program than any other firm. Al Hamra Tower and Cayan Tower were recognized in the built projects category, and Al Ahmadi Cultural Center and Nozul Lusail Marina earned accolades for unbuilt projects.
