On September 4th, 2018, SOM will lead a walking tour as part of the Architecture + the City Festival in San Francisco. The program, titled "Urban Design for the Future of the Public Realm," will include stops at various SOM-designed projects in the city.
Designed by SOM in 2003, the Transbay district is fast becoming a reality in downtown San Francisco. The San Francisco Chronicle explores the current status of the projects that will make up this dense, vertical neighborhood, including SOM’s Transbay Redevelopment Project Block 9 residential tower.
More than 10 years ago, SOM developed a master plan for the San Francisco neighborhoods now known as Transbay and Rincon Hill. This vision, as explored by a recent feature in the Urban Land Institute's Urban Land Magazine, is now becoming a reality.
On August 6, 2015, San Francisco Planning and Urban Research (SPUR) will host an evening forum. The discussion will focus on the Transbay neighborhood, the process that has shaped its urban fabric, and how its architects are creating new precedents for large-scale projects in San Francisco.
