The Architectural Engineering Institute has recognized three SOM projects as part of its Professional Project Award program. JTI Headquarters, Kingtown International Center, and the Kathleen Grimm School for Leadership and Sustainability at Sandy Ground each received awards.
The Middle East chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) honored four SOM projects in its 2015 Design Awards, marking the second consecutive year that SOM has won more awards in this program than any other firm. Al Hamra Tower and Cayan Tower were recognized in the built projects category, and Al Ahmadi Cultural Center and Nozul Lusail Marina earned accolades for unbuilt projects.
Four SOM projects have been named finalists in this year’s Architizer A+ Awards. Selected from thousands of submissions, the SOM projects will now be considered for a Jury Award, determined by a panel of esteemed judges, and a Popular Choice Award, based on popular votes.
AIA Chicago has honored SOM with four Design Excellence Awards, the most bestowed upon a firm in 2014. Winners were announced on October 24 at the chapter's Design Night event.
