On April 22nd, 2019, Philip Enquist will host a Video Walk focused on the Great Lakes with graphic designer Rick Valicenti. The event is part of Earth Day programming for "Today at Apple," a series of hands-on creative events hosted at Apple flagship stores around the world.

On July 8th, SOM's Philip Enquist will present a keynote speech at the 2016 Annual Conference of the Canadian Institute of Planners in Québec City. He will discuss SOM's recent work on the Great Lakes Vision, a 100-year plan for the region.
The Great Lakes, Great Cities, Great Basin exhibit designed by SOM is on view in Illinois at the Highland Park Public Library through September 30, 2015. In addition, members of SOM's City Design Practice will participate in related events on September 19 and 20 respectively.
Argonne National Laboratory produced a story about its LakeSim platform, created to bolster the design process for smart cities in an increasingly urban world. Argonne collaborated with SOM to prototype this tool.
SOM's Great Lakes Vision Plan is highlighted in Civil Engineering magazine. The 100-year vision for the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River, and Gulf of St. Lawrence watershed was devised to protect the lake system and promote sustainable development.

Philip Enquist Discusses The Great Lakes Century
Today, Philip Enquist, SOM Partner in Charge of Urban Design and Planning, spoke about The Great Lakes Century on WBEZ, Chicago’s flagship public radio station. Enquist discussed the 100 years as a time for optimism and regeneration throughout the Great Lakes region.
On July 31, Philip Enquist, SOM Partner in Charge of Urban Design and Planning, will speak at a symposium focused on both challenges and opportunities facing the Great Lakes region. Enquist will present SOM’s bold 100-year vision for planning and development in the international watershed of the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River, and Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Several projects by SOM have been recognized by the 2014 Green GOOD DESIGN Awards. The awards program promotes public awareness of the world's most important examples of sustainable design.
From May 19 – 25, 2014, leaders from SOM's global City Design Practice will visit six cities in China to meet with colleagues and planning students. The goal of the tour is to present and exchange ideas for designing livable and sustainable cities in the 21st century.
