A new 68,680 sq ft primary school near the south shore of the borough of Staten Island, in New York City, will be the first net-zero energy elementary school in the state of New York. To achieve energy neutrality—harvesting as much renewable energy as it uses annually—nearly every aspect of the building’s design is dedicated to either producing energy or reducing energy consumption.
