Philip Enquist, SOM Partner in Charge of Urban Design and Planning, will present “Design for The Century of Cities” at The University of Tennessee Knoxville as part of the university's weekly Science Forum. The Science Forum is an 81-year-old group consisting of active and retired professors, students, and townspeople who gather weekly to hear scientists, engineers, and health and environmental professionals speak about their research and new discoveries in their fields.
Enquist will discuss the challenges facing cities and regions today, holistic principles to guide future development, and how an integrated approach to energy and urbanism can be transformative at all scales of development, from individual buildings, to districts, cities, nations, and even multinational watersheds. An SOM team led by Enquist is collaborating with UTK and researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory through the Governor’s Chair for Energy and Urbanism.
