On Tuesday, December 12th, Consulting Partner Philip Enquist and Urban Designer Rachel Momenee will lead a gallery talk at Expo 72. The two will discuss SOM's participation in the Chicago River Edge Ideas Lab, a City of Chicago-led initiative to create a unified and integrated vision for Chicago's riverfront. SOM, one of nine firms invited to participate, created a design to implement new ecologically-focused infrastructure for a healthier and better connected river. Enquist and Momenee will share insight on the design proposal. A Q&A will follow the talk.

The Chicago River Edge Ideas Lab was established in 2017 by the City of Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development in collaboration with the Metropolitan Planning Council. Its goal is to explore ideas for a revamped riverfront.

SOM's proposal can also be found on display in the main River Edge Ideas Lab exhibition at the Expo 72 Gallery (through Sunday, January 7th), and at the SOM-designed Chicago Public Library, Chinatown Branch through Monday, December 11th.
