Peter Kindel, SOM Director of Urban Design and Planning, will speak at the second annual Mixed-Use Developments Conference in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, October 21st. His presentation—"Creating True Mixed-Use Developments: Integrating Architecture, Public Space, And Ecology"—is premised on the idea that true mixed-use master plans is achieved by the successful integration of ecology, public space and private development. The most successful projects, from the standpoint of economics, sustainability and aesthetics, strike a successful balance between these three elements. Kindel will present recent case studies from SOM’s portfolio that explore the integration of these three critical elements of successful mixed-use projects.
