SOM Director of Urban Design and Planning Peter J. Kindel will present “Ecology in the Age of Urbanism” at the International Urban Design Forum in Shanghai on June 6, 2015. Kindel’s talk will focus on the concept of sustainable urbanism: a balance of infrastructure investment, natural systems, and architectural design that supports city development and preserves core site ecologies. According to the 22-year veteran of city design, urbanization disconnects people from basic environmental processes, a phenomenon that deputizes regional planners and urban designers to integrate nature into urban schemes.
