Carrie Byles, SOM Partner, will discuss the firm's redevelopment plan for San Francisco's Parkmerced neighborhood at the 13th Annual Leadership Summit on Sustainable Design, hosted by the Design Futures Council (DFC). SOM’s plan represents a remarkable opportunity to transform a large, aging housing complex and the surrounding area into a vibrant, sustainable community. At full buildout, the 8,900-unit development aims to protect current tenants from displacement and help address the city’s current housing shortage for people of all income levels.
Byles, who is a member of the DFC Executive Board, will also provide opening remarks for the three-day event, taking place from September 28-30 in Park City, Utah. There, 100 delegates from some of the world's most influential architecture, engineering, and construction firms will gather to exchange ideas and continue the advancement of sustainable design.
