Architect Magazine has recognized the Moon Village with an honorable mention in this year’s R+D Awards. The annual award program, now in its 13th year, honors technological advancements in the architectural industry.
The Moon Village, selected among eight winners, is a research concept for the first full-time human habitat on the lunar surface. With the European Space Agency and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, SOM is master planning, designing, and engineering the settlement.
R+D Award Juror James Garrett Jr., AIA, discussing the Moon Village’s selection, said that the project “was well thought out and it captured my imagination.”
