On Friday, October 28th, Mark Sarkisian, Partner of Structural and Seismic Engineering in SOM's San Francisco office, will give a lecture titled "Creative Use of Structural Steel in Tall Buildings of the Future" to engineering students and faculty at Tongji University in Shanghai. Founded in 1907, Tongji University is one of China's leading universities and offers a wide range of programs in engineering, sciences, medicine, arts, law, economics and management.
Sarkisian has developed innovative structural engineering solutions for more than 100 major building projects, several among the world’s tallest. He holds nine U.S. patents and five international patents for high-performance structural mechanisms designed to protect buildings in areas of high seismicity and for environmentally responsible structural systems.
