Ellen Lou, SOM Director of Urban Design + Planning, and Allison Albericci, SOM Associate, will present at "Rooted in AuthentiCITY," the 2015 American Planning Association California Chapter Conference.
On Sunday, October 4th, Lou will join Amie MacPhee of Cultivate LLC and Bry Sarte from Sherwood Design Engineers for "A Discussion About Innovative Planning Models to Preserve Agriculture and Our Rural Legacy.” They will use case studies from California and China's Yangtze Delta to compare and contrast two different and innovative planning approaches to reconcile the tradeoffs between conserving rural lands and expanding urban development.
Albericci will moderate and present "Demystifying Density at All Scales,” which will also feature speakers Adrianne Steichen from PYATOK, Mark Hogan of Open Scope Studio, and Amit Price Patel from David Baker Architects. This panel discussion will focus on helping planners develop a robust understanding of density through case studies illustrating breakthrough trends in multi-family housing and mixed-use neighborhood development.
