"Sterling Bay is unveiling a more detailed look at its planned Lincoln Yards project on the North Side, where it plans to invest up to $10 billion redeveloping more than 70 acres of former industrial land along the Chicago River.
The Chicago developer’s plan includes a connection to The 606 elevated trail west of Lincoln Yards, and the relocation of a nearby Metra train station to a new transportation center on the site.
New details of the plan include the creation of a skate park and climbing wall in the viaduct under the Kennedy Expressway east of The 606, as well as a splash pool, sledding hill and dog park. The plan will require city zoning approval after an expected series of public meetings with Ald. Brian Hopkins, 2nd, and neighborhood groups.
The site, which includes the former A. Finkl & Sons steel plant property, is along the east and west sides of the river along Lincoln Park and Bucktown."
