On Thursday, August 24th, SOM Director Kristopher Takács will participate in a film screening and panel discussion hosted by the Washington, D.C. chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA DC). Joining Takács on the panel will be Eric Shaw of the D.C. Office of Planning, and Susan Piedmont-Palladino, Director at Virginia Tech and Curator at the National Building Museum.
The event, titled "Livability in the District," centers on a discussion of the emerging challenges and opportunities that cities face today. Takács and other panelists will share insight on their work in Washington, D.C. Following the panel, "The Human Scale"—a film that examines the ways in which cities can be built to accommodate human needs for inclusion and intimacy—will be screened.
