Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) is pleased to announce that, effective November 1st, Kristopher Takács, AIA, will lead the firm’s Washington, D.C. practice. In this role, Takács will oversee a reorganization and expansion of the office to deliver architecture, planning, interiors, and engineering services in the District and mid-Atlantic region. “I’m thrilled to be moving to our nation’s capital,” says Takács. “The District is growing, thriving and redefining itself as a model American city of the 21st century. I am dedicated to furthering SOM’s mission of design excellence and client service by building on the firm’s legacy of a strong Washington, D.C. practice.”
Formerly based in SOM’s New York City office, Takács brings 20 years of experience as an architect, urban designer, and project manager. Having joined the firm in 2004, he is recognized for his leadership of award-winning projects throughout the United States, Middle East, India, and China, encompassing large-scale, mixed-use urban development, commercial and residential towers, ground transportation facilities, and urban designs for campuses, districts, and cities. In these endeavors he has supported a broad range of owners and clients including public institutions and authorities, private-sector developers, and public-private partnerships.
