On Tuesday, October 11th, SOM Managing Director Kristopher Takács will participate in the conference "Rail-Volution: Building Livable Communities with Transit." Founded in 2005, Rail-Volution aims to serve as a catalyst for the movement to build strong communities by inspiring better transit and land use decisions. This year's edition of the annual conference takes place in San Francisco and will bring together planners, community activists, transit officials, consultants, developers, and other participants in urban development, planning, and governance.
Joining a panel discussion titled "High-Speed Rail Implementation: Creating a TOD Lifestyle," Takács will discuss the lessons learned and strategies deployed to leverage All Aboard Florida's rail system to maximize economic development in urban areas. Moderated by Melissa DuMond, Director of Planning and Integration for the California High Speed Rail Authority, the panel will include experts in the planning and design of high-speed rail systems around the world.
