Greenwich Academy Upper School: Building Types Study

Located on a lovely 30-acre countrified setting, Greenwich Academy is a private K-12 school for girls with a total of 730 students. Part of a 10-year plan to expand and update the school, this new facility serves the 250 students of the upper school, grades 9-12, and replaces a demolished 1950s building. The new 42,000-square-foot building is a highly visible landmark for the upper campus and houses four new clusters for learning—science and math; the humanities; the arts; and the library—as well as non-academic areas.

The series of modern clear glass boxes set within a more solid building weaves together the architecture with the landscape. The uninterrupted landscape carpet of the upper campus is extended by the new facility, creating
a new perimeter, overlooking a lake and fields.
