Frank Mahan Honored with AIA Young Architects Award

SOM Associate Director Frank Mahan has been named a 2019 Young Architects Award winner by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Each year, the award program recognizes young architects who have made significant contributions to the built environment and have become leaders within the field.

Since joining SOM in 2008, Mahan has helped shape some of New York City’s largest, most complex projects, including One World Trade Center and the Waldorf Astoria renovation. He has emerged as an expert in adaptive reuse, playing a major role in the repositioning of One Chase Manhattan Plaza and the renovation of 510 Fifth Avenue, as well as in the design of the Center for Character and Leadership Development at the U.S. Air Force Academy, a National Historic Landmark.

Mahan, who was also recognized in Building Design + Construction‘s 40 Under 40 List in 2017, will be honored with other Young Architects Award winners at the AIA Conference on Architecture 2019 in Las Vegas.
