The Center for Character and Leadership Development (CCLD), the newest building at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado, is highlighted in the March issue of Casabella magazine. Architectural historian Nicholas Adams explores the complexity and symbolism of introducing the CCLD as a contemporary addition to the historic campus, which was first completed in 1954, and the role SOM played in designing both.
The CCLD is a 46,000-square-foot building that serves as an education and research center as well as a think tank for the Academy's leadership and character development initiatives nationwide. Completed in 2016, the CCLD supports the Air Force Academy’s mission to integrate character and leadership development into all aspects of the cadet experience.
