Carlos Madrid III Attends Contract Design Forum

In October 2018, SOM senior designer Carlos Madrid III attended Contract Magazine’s annual Design Forum. The gathering brings together members of the magazine’s Editorial Advisory Board with real estate professionals. The board includes national leaders in the design of workplace, healthcare, hospitality, education, and retail architecture and interiors.

The two-day event took place at The Dewberry Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina, and included a series of presentations, tours of local destinations, and networking opportunities.

Madrid, who joined Contract’s Editorial Advisory Board in 2016, has more than 20 years of experience in the architecture and interior design industry. His portfolio is diverse in scale, scope and location. Recent project accomplishments include the $100 million upgrade of Los Angeles International Airport’s central terminal area; repositioning several developer-owned properties into creative workplace environments, such as Pen Factory and Awesomeness in Santa Monica, California, and 777 Aviation, a Craig Elwood modernist renovation in El Segundo, California; and re-imagining several L.A. commercial developments for CBRE Global Investors and Brookfield Properties.
