On Tuesday, June 21st, SOM Associate Director Arathi Gowda will present "Paris Tales: COP21 Impacts" at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Chicago chapter. Speaking on her experience as a delegate at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, Gowda will discuss how architects, planners, and engineers can continue to shape the conversation on climate change. Gowda attended COP21 on behalf of SOM and as a member of the United States delegation representing the field of architecture.

A sustainable design specialist at SOM, Gowda is responsible for developing and implementing environmental best practices throughout all phases of a project. She focuses on helping project teams realize integrated design solutions that consider the impacts of the built environment at multiple scales, from infrastructure to the embodied energy of building materials. Gowda was recently awarded the 2016 Chapter Mission Award by the United States Green Building Council – Illinois Chapter.
