AMIE 1.0 to be Showcased at 2016 International Manufacturing Technology Show

The Additive Manufacturing Integrated Energy (AMIE) demonstration project will arrive in Chicago in September. Traveling from its home at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Tennessee, AMIE will be presented at the 2016 International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) as a part of the Emerging Technology Center, which serves as a showcase for current and near-future state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies.

Visitors are invited to tour AMIE, the world's largest 3D-printed polymer enclosure, and explore the project's proposed model for off-grid urban living. The result of a collaboration between SOM, ORNL, and several industry partners, AMIE represents a groundbreaking partnership designed to fuse science, design, and technology.

Held every two years, IMTS is the largest manufacturing trade show in the Americas and serves as the preeminent event for innovation in global manufacturing and design.
