A New Perspective on Facility Planning

Joan Suchomel, SOM Director, will speak at the 2014 Health Facility Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC) Summit, which will be held from March 16 – 19 in Orlando, Florida. The annual conference is presented by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering and other organizations and is among the largest healthcare design conferences in the world.

Suchomel will be joined by Farzan Bharucha and Lawrence Sterle of Kurt Salmon, a global management and strategy consulting firm. Their presentation, “A New Perspective on Facility Planning: What’s Wrong with the Traditional Approach and How to Do It Right,” will establish the premise that responding to healthcare reform and the Affordable Care Act necessitates a nontraditional approach to facility master planning. The speakers will identify the pitfalls of planning without a strategy, what crucial tasks are often overlooked in facility development projects, and how to achieve confidence in pre-planning.
