The San Francisco Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) selected SOM's 350 Mission Street as Architectural Engineering Project of the Year for 2016. The award was announced on Thursday, September 22nd, at the Section Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner Ceremony.
ASCE’s Honors and Awards program recognizes remarkable accomplishments in the civil engineering profession. The Architectural Engineering Project award honors work that pushes the limits of engineering to achieve visionary architecture.
350 Mission Street is a 30-story, LEED® Platinum-certified office tower designed for optimal environmental performance, social engagement and material efficiency. Its cast-in-place concrete structure uses a central shear wall core as the sole lateral load resisting element. A long-span, post-tensioned concrete flat plate floor system provides open office space and supports an "urban living room" at the base of the building. This public lobby space incorporates a dramatic 30-foot, two-way cantilever at the building's corner.
