The 14th Annual Best Tall Building Awards Symposium featured a presentation on One World Trade Center. Held on November 12th, 2015 by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), organized in conjunction with the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), the Awards Symposium highlighted the Best Tall Building Award winning projects of 2015. SOM Managing Partner Kenneth A. Lewis presented One World Trade Center, the winner in the Americas category.
In the presentation, "A New Icon for an Evolving City: One World Trade Center, New York,” Lewis gave insight into the history and evolution of the site in downtown Manhattan and into the design of the building that has recaptured the New York skyline, while WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff Senior Vice President Yoram Eilon spoke about the project's structural engineering. The CTBUH Annual Tall Building Awards Program is an independent annual review of new tall building projects, judged by a multidisciplinary panel of global experts.
