Peter M. Ruggiero is a design partner in the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. His experience spans a multitude of project types, from public-sector work including hospitals and airports to high-profile commercial buildings such as 7 World Trade Center. He has recently focused on large scale mixed-use programs, residential developments, and university research facilities.

Inspired by forms found in nature and industrial objects that evoke simplicity, efficiency, and logic, Mr. Ruggiero strives for design clarity and economies of form in the development of his projects. He is deeply interested in the design of buildings that contribute to environmental sustainability. Through extensive collaboration with his clients to understand their objectives and a process of meticulous refinement, Mr. Ruggiero achieves unique architectural solutions of the highest quality and design.

Some of Mr. Ruggiero's design work includes new terminals at the Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada; Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York; terminal expansions for Continental Airlines at Newark International Airport in New Jersey; and the Master Plan for Washington Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC. Mr. Ruggiero's experience also includes several prominent Health Care Institutions; the design for the UNC Genome Science Laboratory in North Carolina; the new International Treaty Organization Headquarters in Brussels; Broadgate West in London; and recent work in China, Russia, and the United Kingdom.
