Peter G. Ellis possesses a passion and enthusiasm for his clients, rooted in a deep respect for their culture and environment. His understanding of scale and his meticulous refinement result in projects tailored to their requirements while expressing a unique creative vision.

Mr. Ellis’ commissions have received the recognition of both professional associations and major media organizations. To date, twenty-three awards have been bestowed upon projects under his direction.

Working internationally as a design partner for SOM, Mr. Ellis’ projects break new ground through his commitment to the application of sustainable design principles. He believes that sustainability will lead us to a more meaningful architecture for our time. Furthermore, he leads the Health + Science practice, whose mission is to advance the architecture of health and research through innovative design.

An avid speaker and lecturer, Mr. Ellis contributes to the continuing dialogue between his peers through his involvement as an adjunct professor with the Illinois Institute of Technology and presentations to the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Most recently, Mr. Ellis participated by invitation in a forum for the U.S.-China Housing Exchange in Shenyang, China.

Mr. Ellis has provided leadership to SOM project offices in London, San Francisco, and Chicago. His completed works include commercial, residential, hospitality, and healthcare commissions in fourteen countries.
