Sunscreen Patterns

In this study for shading the surface of a building, a bitmap image was scaled up and used to create a pattern on the façade.
The image was converted to grayscale and then reduced to just three color values. The vertical louvers were instantiated on the façade using a script that first read the color value from the bitmap that corresponded to the same location on the façade and then angled the vertical louver to one of three possible orientations. Each louver orientation causes light to reflect differently off the louver surfaces, which causes the image to be read across the façade.
