In addition to seismically retrofitting and refurbishing the historically significant building, SOM created a highly flexible and functional space that accommodates the technology-heavy program. Present and future tenant needs and usage patterns were carefully analyzed and projected. The project was praised as the “Swiss Army knife or Apple Macintosh of architecture” for its maximum flexibility.
