SOM's Seventy Years of Iconic Designs

It is no easy matter to sum up seventy years of architectural practice. In "Skidmore, Owings & Merrill: SOM since 1936," architectural historian Nicholas Adams of Vassar College undertook to give an overview of the firm and its history. To coincide with the publication of the book (New York: Phaidon, 2007), he presented a fifty-minute overview at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. In the lecture he reports on the firm's storied beginnings as well as its notable current achievements.
