Richard F. Tomlinson II is a managing partner of the SOM Chicago office. Under his leadership, SOM continues to design some of the world’s largest, most complex, and high-profile projects. Mr. Tomlinson manages professionals from various disciplines within the firm and oversees the progress of key projects for SOM. As the key liaison between SOM and clients, general contractors, construction teams, and specialty consultants, he ensures that SOM meets client expectations while working within established schedules and budgets. Mr. Tomlinson has a diverse portfolio featuring several project categories including complex large scale developments, strategic planning, urban design and planning, mixed-use facilities, interior design, and infrastructure.
Throughout his tenure at SOM, Mr. Tomlinson has managed projects that span industries and continents. He has experience in large scale mixed-use, corporate, residential, hospitality, financial, law, healthcare, and research architecture.
Regardless of the size or scope of the project, Mr. Tomlinson gives unparalleled attention and detail to building strong client relationships and has garnered support from clients in the private, commercial, institutional, and federal and local government sectors.
