Memphis Brooks Museum of Art
Memphis, Tennessee
The scale, quality, and detail of the original 1916 building provided the foundation for SOM’s expansion and reorientation, which doubled the square footage of the existing building. A new public entrance center in the original building reoriented the museum towards a nearby public park and the city. A three-story gallery space was added where old and new buildings join.
