Leo Chow AIA |
Leo Chow, AIA is a Design Director and Studio Head at SOM San Francisco. With nearly 20 years of design experience, his portfolio spans a range of project types in the United States and abroad, including mixed-use complexes, commercial office buildings, residential towers and higher education facilities.
Notable, award-winning projects include the Harvard University Northwest Science Building, The New Beijing Poly Plaza, the St. Regis Hotel and Residences, and the International Terminal at San Francisco International Airport. Leo also guided the development of SOM’s San Francisco Digital Context Analysis Model, a program that combines information traditionally found on maps and diagrams with the form of the City’s buildings and streets to serve as an invaluable tool for SOM’s design studies.
Leo has a keen interest in the science of building technology, including structures, building services, and sustainable engineering as important drivers in the creation of lasting works of architecture. To share this knowledge, he has taught “Tall Building Design” studio classes at California College of the Arts and Stanford University. Leo received his Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University and his Master of Architecture from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design.
