SOM worked with Imperial College London at Wye to help plan for the re-invention of this institution as a center for world-class biomass research for the 21st century. The site is located in the heart of the Kent countryside, and planning challenges included addressing the sensitive landscape setting, the future needs of the existing local community, and fulfilling Imperial College’s development objectives. The plan aimed to strengthen the local economy and improve the infrastructure of the area, whilst acting as a catalyst for future growth of Greater Ashford.
