Joe Ruocco is based in SOM’s Washington, DC office. With 35 years of diverse experience, Ruocco is responsible for leading SOM's civic and government practice, and fostering relationships with our federal and international clients, including the General Services Administration, the FBI, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He has worked on numerous large-scale, complex, secure government projects in the U.S. and around the world.
Ruocco has successfully executed projects in diverse cultural environments, including Burma, Togo, Ghana, India, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. He has extensive experience with all design and construction delivery methods, including design-bid-build, design-build, bridging-design-build, design-assist, and public-private partnership (P3). Ruocco is an advocate for establishing protocols to deliver design-owner assist with integrated project delivery (IPD) methodology, which integrates comprehensive requirements from all stakeholders earlier into the design process.
Ruocco is responsive to client needs, yet firm in acting as the client’s trusted advisor such that objectives are realized at the highest level of quality in the shortest amount of time. As a proven team builder, Ruocco demonstrates expertise in management and problem solving.
